Web designer.

Upon completion of high school, I needed to do something to help subsidize the so many brothers and sisters in my
polygamous family and even my parents who were aging and financially weak. Where to go and what to do was a
thousand dollar question for me. I remembered one of my friends advised me that I could study computing and
become a computer operator, but I told him I don’t have the money to travel abroad to study computing. He said “no I
can study it in town here and precisely in Paul's Computer Institute Small Mankon Bamenda. When I asked my father
for 3000frs for the registration into PCI he refused and said he had never heard of the word computer before, I should
stay quiet or think of something else. Then I turned to my junior sister who is a hair dresser and she gave me 5.000frs
to do the registration and also to buy some floppy diskettes. Upon my admission in PCI in 1999 my life has never been
the same again.
In PCI, I did the 9 months course in Data Processing. I enjoyed the environment, the facilities like the library, stand by
generator and above all the qualified staff including then proprietor Mr. Paul C. Mickelson who is to me very simple
and friendly. I always remember him for sharing pens to students. I graduated in 2000 and was very happy to be
among those selected to assist in teaching the holiday course for another 2 months period. Little did I know that this
was a training for my future career as a computer teacher.
I was employed with one printing press in Bamenda called Multi-Service as a computer operator and also a computer
teacher. I walked there for ten months and by the end of 2001 I was called up to joined the experienced and respected
staff of PCI. This was another turning point in my life. I headed the 3 months department and successfully graduated 2
batches of students. In 2002 my boss Mr. Paul C. Mickelson appointed me the Head of Internet Department even
though I knew nothing about the internet. This was a challenge for me but I discovered that in PCI learning is a
continuous process for students and staff a like. After reading some few books about the internet I started working in
the internet department and also started teaching students on how to use the internet.
In 2004 Paul’s Computer Institute was Approved as a Microsoft Office Testing Center. Then I sad for one of the exams
in MS. Word and succeeded and became a Microsoft Office User Specialist.
PCI has changed my life. It has helped in defining my career. The many students I have thought, the seminars I have
attended and acted like resource person or one of the facilitators have all made me very popular and also very
important in my community. The community is always looking for me for something new and this is pushing me a lot to
carry more research in computing and also to further my studies in computing.
I want to especially thank Mr. Paul C. Mickelson for helping so many youths and others to have something doing. I
want to also thank the Board members and Rotary Club Beloit for all their Contribution and their future plans for PCI.
May God Bless the PCI family.
